Book Review : Retribution

Book Review : Retribution
;

Retribution is my introduction to L.A. Burch’s work, and it’s an impressive start. The story is engagingly crafted, with Sergeant Detective Walter Rogers and Detective Ann Grace as standout characters who are both clever and relatable. They’re up against a relentless serial killer who has been terrorizing the city for three years. His actions are unpredictable—sometimes killing merely to throw the detectives off his trail.

The story diverges from typical thrillers, keeping the reader on edge as the detectives repeatedly go over the case, looking for any clue they might have overlooked. The killer's methods vary—from shootings to arson—each crime meticulously planned to avoid leaving any trail. He’s a few steps ahead, and the detectives can only hope he slips up to leave them a lead.

As a fan of psychological fiction, I thoroughly enjoyed Burch’s skillful plotting and complex narrative. The book's title and cover art perfectly capture its intense, mind-bending nature. The killer’s psychological game with the detectives kept me guessing and made for an intellectually engaging read.

Book Review : From Hero to Villain

Book Review : From Hero to Villain

"An Unflinching Tale of Survival

This memoir offers an unflinching look at what it means to survive in the face of extreme adversity. The author’s writing is direct and clear, giving the story an immediacy that makes it difficult to put down. The protagonist’s journey from a respected executive to a political pawn is laid out with such raw honesty that you can’t help but feel the weight of each moment.

What elevates this memoir beyond a typical survival story is the emotional core, driven by the secret letters exchanged with his wife. These letters become symbols of hope, love, and determination. They remind the reader that even when the physical world crumbles, the emotional ties that bind us can remain strong.

The author paints a vivid picture of the mental and physical toll of captivity, while also showing the resilience needed to endure such conditions. It’s a gripping and at times heartbreaking tale of perseverance, one that will leave you reflecting on the true meaning of strength."

The anecdotes are easy to read yet leave you with a deep understanding of human emotions and values. I found myself connecting with each story, thinking about how similar moments have shaped my own life.

Going places, somewhere and nowhere

Book Review : going places, somewhere and nowhere

In a world ravaged by war, twin sisters Ranger and Rocket are born into chaos. The conflict that began between Europe and North America has shattered the global order, erasing borders and rendering the concept of nation-states obsolete. Now, society is organized into factions formed through online communities, leaving people displaced and struggling to survive in this fractured landscape.

Their mother, however, is determined to keep her daughters free from the grip of these factions. While many believe online communities offer protection, the reality is that life within these factions can be oppressive, with many people living under harsh, almost enslaved conditions. Seeking true freedom, the mother dreams of finding a faction-free land where her daughters can escape the chaos. But the journey is fraught with danger and uncertainty. Will she succeed in leading them to safety?

The story’s ending is both poignant and surprising, packed with emotional depth and unexpected twists. I was captivated from start to finish, unable to put the book down. The author has skillfully crafted complex, relatable characters, especially the bond between the mother and her daughters. This was my first encounter with Luise Noring’s writing, and I’m excited to explore more of her work in the future.

Book Review : Things you know when you read 2000 books

Book Review : Things you know when you read 2000 books

"Things you know when you read 2000 books" by Ella Yoon is the most interesting book that I have read this year. Through this book, Ella frees readers of the burden of remembering the contents of the books. She mentioned it's important for us to remember the taste of the book rather than the content.

Readers help us in evolving our reading skills. My reading method is quite similar to Ella's method. I also don't read without a pen in my hands. Ella has highlighted that the harmony between the classics and practical books is what matters.

By reading more books, we become better at choosing them. This book will enhance your reading urge. After reading this book, I realized how much I can expand my knowledge by reading more books. The title of the book is a great choice by Ella. The cover is simple and looks nice. Ella should write more books. It would be interesting to read more of her work in the near future.

Author Interview : Birgittta Visser

Author Interview : Birgittta Visser

Hello everyone, Today I am going to introduce you to the author of Be - co -ming  Authentically Me

Let's start!

1. Can you please introduce yourself to our readers?

As a soul empowerment coach, divine channel, and light language healer, I act as a guide for others on a profound spiritual journey of self-discovery and empowerment. With an ability to tune into higher frequencies, I deliver messages and wisdom from benevolent Light Beings and Ascended Master Teachers in order to assist those seeking alignment with their soul's purpose. Through the use of Light Language activations, I weave ethereal light codes that activate transformation and healing in those who are ready to step into their highest potential.

 2. What is ''BE- com-ing Authentically Me" about? and what inspired you write this book?

The inspiration behind "BE- com-ing Authentically Me" came from a deep inner calling to share my journey of healing and self-discovery. My guides urged me to finally complete the book that I had begun in 2000, after I having to go through many more years of intense trauma and healing. This book is a guide to becoming the most authentic version of ourselves, emphasising the importance of self-love and understanding that life is a beautiful journey of growth and self-discovery.

 3. Describe this book in one line.

“BE-coming Authentically Me" is a powerful journey of self-discovery, healing, and empowerment, guiding us to embrace our true selves with courage, returning to a love for ourselves and each other.

 4. What is your writing process like?

As I take pen to paper or fingers to keyboard, I allow myself to be an open channel through which wisdom and inspiration may flow. Though I may have a vague sense of direction, I do not cling to rigid outlines or plans. Rather, I let my writing be guided by invisible hands - whether ancestors, angels, spirit animals or muses. The words emerge as if I'm taking dictation from a higher source, and I'm simply the receptive transcriber.

I weave personal stories with mythic themes, peppering my tales with mystical symbols and synchronicities. The magic is subtle, but unmistakable. My aim is not to preach, but to gently wake my readers up to their own divinity. To remind them that we walk in two worlds at once, if we but open our eyes to see. Though I could never anticipate where it will lead, I follow the guidance - and trust that whatever flows through me will uplift, empower and inspire.

 5. What do you like to do when you're not writing?

When I'm not writing, I enjoy taking care of my home and spending time with my furry friend on walks. I also dedicate my time to healing work, using Light Language activations to assist others. Being a guest on podcasts, creating content for my YouTube channel, and engaging in activities like running, exercising, and yoga keep me busy. Currently, I'm enrolled in a course by Jeffrey Allen on Mindvalley to enhance my spiritual energy and apply it practically. Learning new things is always a passion of mine, and I'm also wrapping up my second solo project. My days are packed, and time always seems to fly by!

 6. What does your family and friends think of your writing?

My family supports my creative endeavours, although they don’t fully resonate with the spiritual messages and esoteric themes woven throughout my work, but they are proud of my accomplishments. As for my friends, they are far and few between, as most reside in the different worldly dimensions. However, those who have read my first book here on the earthly plane have expressed their love for it. They found it to be incredibly healing, almost like the pages were interwoven with healing codes. It inspired them to make positive changes in their own lives and reflect on their personal journeys. My writing made them contemplate their purpose and place in the universe. The messages within are quite profound, coming from the various wise master teachers. They were adamant that the writing remain as is, because people need to shift their consciousness and meet you where you are, as it's time for everyone to awaken to the true essence of life.

The feedback has been that my book is a joyful, light-hearted guide to awakening one's highest potential.

 7. How has your journey as an author been so far?

I guess the journey of being an author has been quite an adventure, learning a lot about myself in the process. Sometimes I still question if I can truly call myself an author, especially since I'm still juggling my corporate responsibilities. Although I have decided to gradually transition away from that world this year. For me, it all started when my spiritual guides from the realms beyond sat me down and urged me to write my very first book. Their purpose? To awaken humanity and shed light on the true essence of life, drawing from my own personal experiences of overcoming a lifetime of trauma. It's fascinating, really. I'm merely a vessel, a conduit through which their profound messages flow.

I feel grateful to impart messages that provide hope and healing. Truth be told, by moving past my own struggles, I've discovered my life's unexpected purpose - using a blend of both their words and my own to enlighten the world.

 8. What's your reaction towards negative feedback?

Negative feedback does not bother me in the slightest. I may not be everyone’s cup of tea and that’s perfectly okay. I have come to understand that we all have our own unique perspectives and experiences that colour how we see the world. Just because someone may not appreciate my approach or viewpoint does not diminish my sense of self-worth. I aim to live my life guided by my inner truth, not the passing judgments of others. If my words or ideas do not resonate with someone, I do not take it as a personal insult. We each have our own path to walk. Not everyone will be drawn to me and my healing modalities, and that is perfectly alright. Our diversity is what makes this world so rich and fascinating. I celebrate our differences, even when they manifest as criticism or negative reactions to my work. This feedback simply helps me understand myself and others more deeply. We are all learning, growing, and seeking in our own imperfect ways. My sense of inner peace, purpose, and self-love comes from within, not from outside approval. As long as I stay true to my soul's calling, negative feedback will never shake me at my core nor hinder my capacity to radiate love to all.

 9. What are your future plans? How soon can your readers expect your next book?

My next collaboration book, Become Empowered, released on 18 April 2024, brings together a diverse group of courageous women who have each overcome tremendous adversity on their personal journeys. These 12 inspiring authors, hailing from various backgrounds and walks of life, have each found inner strength and empowerment in the face of trauma. By bravely sharing their intimate stories, they expose their vulnerability in hopes of uplifting others who may be struggling. The collection provides a sisterhood of support, reminding readers that they are not alone. It sends the message that no matter what hardships one faces, there is light to be found.

In my next solo endeavour, out at the end of the year, I delve into a captivating tale of my enlightening stay at the Art of Living Centre in India. There, I discovered the profound art of meditation and the incredible power of the breath. Through this experience, I aim to ignite a spark within readers, inspiring them to embrace their pain, practice forgiveness, and embark on a journey of healing.

 10. What advice do you have for writers and readers?

Always be true to you, not who the world wants you to be.

Damn Cat

Book Review - Damn Cat

Damn Cat is an entertaining story that won my heart as soon as I started reading this book. Carter's wife was scheduled for wisdom teeth removal. Carter was eagerly waiting for this weekend for a long time. He thought when his wife would be doped up for two or three days after surgery, he would get to work on his novel.

However, things don't always go as we plan them. The same happened with Carter Ferris. His wife's Persian Himalayan cat Buttercup ran away and the responsibility to bring him back was given to Carter. Maggie doesn't like the way Carter's wit insults her friends. Carter is the one holding on to this marriage. I appreciate the efforts that he puts into his marriage.

The story is not just about a quest for a cat. Things become interesting when guns get involved. The backdrop setting of Los Angeles is done well by the author. This book tempted me to visit Los Angeles some day and explore the city well. This book is surely a memorable read.

Don't hesitate to pick this book. It is one of the best books that I have read. Humor lovers would find this book worth their time.

Thanks for reading.
