Book Review : Invisible Whitelines

Book Review : Invisible Whitelines

Title - Invisible White Lines
Author - Kavita Dharamvir
Publisher - Quignog
Genre - Memoir
Pages - 192
Format - paperback

This book is a memoir of author's life. She grew up in faraway BradFord, England and for higher education , she came to India. She is married to an IAS officer who is posted in Ferozepur located at the border of India - Pakistan. The book is divided into many short chapters which is readers friendly. In these chapters the author has written the stories from everyday conversation with household staff and relatives. She also describes about the encounter at the borders, war and also about the disturbance of the people who live in nearby towns.

She also talks about caste discrimination, superstitions, life style in a very simple language. I liked the writing style of the author where she has given the description of Punjabi rituals and traditions.

The cover of the book is okayish. The flow of the book is slow paced  which makes it somewhat dull to read. Also at various points it seems to be monotonous.

Overall, one time read.
