Book Review : My Black Rose
Title - My Black Rose
Author - Deblina Bhattacharya
Publisher - Mithaas services private ltd
Genre - poetry
Pages - 150
Format - kindle
This book is a collection of 82 beautiful poems. The theme of all poems according to the poetess is -
"To not give up hope in the darkest of times"
The book is divided into 3 sections -
1. Wounded
2. Scarred
3. Healing
All the poems are deep and meaningful. The poems in the beginning are dark and in the past tense. These poems mainly focuses on the bitter memories. But the poems in the last section are full of hope and positivity.
Language used is rich but easy to understand. The writing style of the poetess is superb. She weaved her words like a magic which has the power to touch one's heart and soul. The poems of last section are enough to motivate.
The cover of the book is simple and the title is totally apt. The illustrations given in the book are readers friendly. All the poems are interconnected with each other like a story. Wounded sections as the title suggests showed the wounds of life. Scarred section talked about the effect of wounds on one's life and the last healing section gave the power to overcome with these difficulties.
My favorite poems are :-
1. Scars of life.
2. I look at the trees
3. The girl next door
Overall, a hopeful read.
Rating - 4.8/5
I recommend this book to all specially to poetry lovers out there for hope and positivity.
