Author Interview : Nashit Ahmed

Hello everyone,
Today I am going to introduce you to the author of 'The Dance of Bride'

Let's start!

1) Please Introduce yourself to our Audience ( Repeated Question for all the Interviews )
Author : I was born and raised in Calcutta by my parents, Shakil and Seema Ahmed. I enrolled in Ling Liang High School as a child and subsequently completed my High School from the same, in the year 2009. I then enrolled in Calcutta University for an undergraduate degree in Economics, from Maulana Azad College and completed it in the year 2013. After my Graduation I started to work under my father as an apprentice and worked on my writing through the nights and the free time I have had.

2) Share with us regarding the response of readers on "The Dance of Bride".
Author : The response has been very encouraging. I have had a lot of positive feedback from my fellow authors as well. Almost anyone who has read, 'The Dance of The Bride', has nothing but good things to say about it. Hopefully this trend continues...

3) Do you relate yourself to any character from the recent Title "The Dance of Bride"? If yes, why?
Author : I relate to all of them. The reason why that is, is because I have lived their journey. I know where they come from, why they do what they do and it's fascinating to see their arcs shape up in the way they do. I can honestly tell you, I was pretty surprised myself a lot of times.

4) Have you ever considered writing under a pseudonym ?
Author : Nah. I think I like my name, Nashit... There is definitely nothing shitty about it haaaa

5) Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?
Author : Okay this is an interesting question. While each of my work does stand on it's own, but there is a definitive link to all of them. I won't say much about it because it's still a work in progress... But yeah you all will be pleasantly surprised when the dots connect.

6) Are you working on any books/projects that you would like to share with us?
Author : Yes. I have been working on a project that's again very close to my heart. It's set in the 1800s Bengal. It's almost done and I can't wait to thrill all of you with it.

7) What’s the best way to market your books?
Author : I think the best way to market a book is to write an exceptional, original piece of work. That and a ton of positive reviews.

8) What was your first introduction to horror literature, the one that made you choose that genre to write?
Author : It would be 'Salem's Lot' by Stephen King.

9) What advice would you give to writers just starting out?
Author : Read, write and try build a community. Don't try to exploit your readers, be genuine with them and things will be good in the long run. The grind is real but the grind is what makes it worth it.

10) According to you, what are the elements that make a good horror story?
Author : Emotions. If one cannot make the readers connect and engage to the characters you'll find it hard for the work to be a success in the long run. One other important aspect I cannot stress enough on, is the build up to the reveal. Don't worry about the over the top tropes that sadly a lot of people fall into. Be original and creative with your work.

11) What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Author : Ummm ... I think ... Okay yeah so I don't know how long this will continue but the Title for the story is the first thing that pops into my head. The Story then follows itself.

12) Any message for your readers.
Author : I hope it's been a worthwhile journey. I hope the characters get to live in your heart for a long, long time. Above all I am absolutely indebted to you guys, for spending your money and your precious time on 'The Dance of The Bride.' Your love is truly humbling. And yeah I hope you guys digged the story.
